FDSN Network Information

FDSN code D6 Network name Sistema de Detección Microsismica Mexicana (SisDeMi_Mex)
Start year 2026 Operated by
  • SisDeMi (SisDeMi), Mexico
End year - Deployment region Mexico
Description

The Sistema de Detección Microsismica It is evaluating a possible expansion to the entire Mexican Republic, in order to analyze seismic activity at certain strategic points in order to study unmapped or unseen geological faults.

All discoveries and advances with the network will be published in the future. The network consists of approximately 100 sensors across the country, using 1D Raspberry Shake sensors. Their low cost allows for a high station density.

Due to the lack of interest among institutions in sharing real-time data from their seismic stations, "SisDeMi_Mex" was created. A project that aims to warn people about the seismic activity around them, always having real-time seismic data (approximately 5-8 stations via the IRIS DMC data server) and the entire network will be semi-public, requiring data subjects to request access. (Information under development, possible future changes)
